St. Joseph’s Academy celebrates students, faculty and staff who have distinguished themselves for academic excellence, as community leaders, and scholar athletes.

National Merit Commended Scholars
We are pleased to announce that Caitlin Murphy and Danielle Trout have received the honor of being named Commended Scholars in the National Merit Program Competition. Way to go girls and thank you for always moving towards academic excellence!
National Merit Semi-Finalists
We are excited and happy to announce that St. Joseph's Academy has THREE semi-finalists in the National Merit Competition: Lauren Weber, Caroline Shaughnessy, and Ceci Murray. We are proud of you, your parents and your teachers. These three young women have worked hard academically and this award is acknowledging their work.

UMSL--STARS Program
Caroline Shaughnessy participated this summer in the STARS Program sponsored by the University of Missouri, St. Louis. This program is an intesive summer research program for academically talented junior and senior high school students. The STARS program introduces participants to the various aspects of the scientific enterprise as practiced by successful scientists in academic, private or corporate research institutions. Participants chose one research project from a variety of outstanding opportunities. Fifty-seven faculty members from the participating institutions and six scientists from the Danforth Center volunteered for this project. In addition, Pfizer Inc., Solutia Inc. and the Solae Company identified research scientists to make career presentations.

2008 Ecybermission Winning Team
Each year our freshmen enter the Ecybermission competition.
This year the team "Princess" won the Innovation and Creativity Award for the Northwest Region.
Each student on the team will receive a $2000 savings bond and a certificate.
The students on the team are: Kaitlyn Skubic, Kasey Viviani, Mary Kate Waibel, and Julie Zielinski.
Their teacher advisor is Mrs. Davidson.

Rachel Geoffroy has been awarded a research stipend from the NASA/Missouri Space Grant Consortium. She will work on a physics project with energy related materials for 2 1/2 months this summer. Rachel will prepare a written report of her work and then give an oral presentation of it at the annual meeting of the NASA/Missouri Space Grant Consortium next April at Mizzou.
Caroline Shaughnessy has been accepted as a participant in this six week summer program: She will be doing research in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department at ST. LOUIS UNIVERSITY.
2008 Archbishop May Award
Each of the twenty-nine Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of St. Louis nominates one senior student each year to receive the Archbishop May Award. The Archbishop May Award is given to a senior who is...
- an outstanding example of rendering Christian Service within her community and school
- is recognized by her peers and school officials with extraordinary achievement in service above that required by the school.
- and is currently participating in volunteer service. Congratulations to Gabrielle Callahan for being the St. Joseph's Academy 2008 recipient of the Archbishop May Award.
Outstanding Teen Award Announced
Congratulations to Abby Kihn on receiving an Outstanding Teen Award from TASK.
Honorable Mention All-American Volleyball team
Congratulations to Annie Lopez for being named to the Honorable Mention All-American Volleyball team.
Student Accepted in to the U.S. Naval Academy
Senior, Catherine Luning, has been accepted into the United States Naval Academy. She will report for duty on June 27. Congratulations Catherine!
Student is selected as a 2007-2008 KMOX/Southeast Missouri State University Student of Achievement
Lauren Weber has been selected as a 2007-2008 KMOX/Southeast Missouri State University Student of Achievement sponsored by Southeast Missouri State University, KMOX Radio, KETC-Channel 9, and Suburban Journals. Lauren is recognized for having outstanding achievement in academics, athletics, community service and leadership. As a reward, Lauren has received a full-tuition scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University starting in the fall of 2009. Congratulations Lauren!
Student is recognized as an outstanding participant in the 2008 National Achievement Scholarship Program
Amber Anders is the recipient of a certificate recognizing her as an outstanding participant in the 2008 National Achievement Scholarship Program. Amber scored in the top five percent of more than 140,000 Black Americans who participated in the Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Amber!

Two students are named Commended Students in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program
Mary Kate Hopkins and Margaret Morris have been named Commended Students in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program. These young women placed in the top 5% in the PSAT exam which was given to 1. 4 million students throughout the United States. Our school is extremely proud of Mary Kate and Margaret.
