There are moments in our lives, there are moments in a day, when we seem to see beyond the usual. Such are the moments our greatest happiness. Such are the moments of our greatest wisdom. If one could but recall his vision by some sort of sign. It was in this hope that the arts were invented. Sign-posts on the way to what may be. Sign-posts toward a greater knowledge.
My name is Mrs. Jennifer Sudekum. I am a teacher of the fine arts here at the Academy. Currently, I teach Ceramics I and Ceramics II. I am also the Literary Magazine Coordinator and the SJA Website Coordinator. I graduated from St. Joe in 1993, then attended Webster University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I value the arts in education because they provide a creative outlet for students while enhancing cultural and historical understanding in their lives.
"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance." ~ Aristotle
Creativity: The ability to combine novelty and usefulness in a particular social context.
