Career Shadowing
JACS
Junior/Alumnae Career Shadowing
In 2006, St. Joseph’s Academy introduced a new Junior/Alumnae Career Shadowing program, called JACS. This program is an effort to connect current students with dynamic, professional women who share their St. Joe tradition. JACS was begun as a way to mentor these students with alumnae who share their career interests.
In the Spring of 2010, St. Joseph’s Academy will once again be offering the JACS program to bring current students and St. Joe Alumnae together. Our Career Shadowing program will focus on providing an opportunity for students who are interested in various careers to spend a day/half a day with an SJA Alumna working in the Junior’s field of interest.
Program Goals and Highlights
•Gives students an opportunity to meet women who share their St. Joe tradition
•Provide students with an interactive experience with a professional in their field of interest
•Provide Alumnae with a meaningful way to reconnect to St. Joe and share their experience with current students
•Structured Program: available to qualified Juniors who have demonstrated an interest in a specific field of study
•Juniors will be asked to provide their top three fields of interest. These will then be used to match the Junior as closely as possible to an alumna in one of those three fields of interest
•Mentor and student will pick a mutually agreed upon date in the Spring to actually do career shadowing
The benefits to this program are endless. Please consider volunteering to be a mentor in our Career Shadowing Program. We need alumnae in ALL different types of career fields as our students have a variety of career interests.
You can sign up by filling out our online form, please click on the ‘Career Connection’ link in the left menu, fill out the provided JACS form and submit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Alumnae office.
