Assistance to students with diagnosed learning differences to:
-
Obtain pertinent information regarding students' specific special needs
-
Communicate pertinent information about students' special needs to their teachers or to other specified school personnel appropriately
-
Communicate with parents/students regrding possible accommodtions for standardized testing (e.g. ACT/SAT)
-
Serve as a resource to assist students with special needs and their parents or caregivers
-
Provide reading testing
-
Conduct screenings, but not testing, in the areas of:
- auditory processing
- visual tracking, convergence and eye muscle balance
- attention
- learning styles
- eight neurological constructs needed for learning
-
Interpret and compile diagnostic reports done by outside agencies

Create individual and small-group help in varied areas as needed
-
Suggest, teach and demonstrate strategies regarding:
- general learning in a high school classroom
- listening skills
- attention controls
- reading to understand
- reading to remember
- note-taking skills
- writing
- memory
- language
- task completion
- homework efficiency
- effective study skills
- time management and organization of materials and schedules

List and model test taking tips and strategies
-
Suggest ways to reduce test anxiety

Assist teachers in the implementation of instructional strategies, accommodations and interventions as related to students' indivdual needs

Help teachers systematically monitor student progress based on students' needs
