On October 17, 2012, the St. Louis World Aquarium hosted “ Sharkology.” It was a fundraiser for the aquarium, but they also used it to recognize those involved in the World Aquarium Marine Science Institute (WAMSI). Four SJA students were involved this year (seniors Rachel Dalske, Sarah Raney and Allison Herrmann for the first time AND senior Haley Wilcutt was asked back and conducted her own research project). Senior Maggie Rabenberg was also invited to Sharkology (she was also asked back but had already committed to the Stein Europe Trip).

Science pioneer, Dr. Eugenie Clark, also known as the "shark lady" and who at 91 is still doing research, gave the keynote speech at the event. Ann McGovern (author of Stone Soup) introduced Dr. Clark.
